Last November 12, 2011, ID 179 Class of UP BSID 2012 held a Dinner in the Dark as an expression of gratitude to everyone who helped Tanglaw happen.
Tanglaw, in partnership with the Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Boysen Paints, in cooperation with Lightworks, APO Floors, and Mariwasa, together with our fund-raising partners, Moonleaf and Charm Bin, and of course, our donors and beloved parents made Tanglaw possible.
Dinner in the Dark was a successful thanksgiving activity for the class to formally acknowledge everyone part of our advocacy. Again, to each kind heart, who extended their helping hand to Tanglaw and Ephpheta, we would like to express our deepest and most heart-warming gratitude. As the project is nearing its end, we could not have done it without you.
More pictures of the event on the Tanglaw page on Facebook.
Also, here's a video dedicated to everyone who supported Tanglaw's FUNdraising activities.

PLOT. TAG. INTERVIEW. MOBILIZE
Description: September 15, 2011 was a productive day for TANGLAW. We had four things accomplished by lunch time.
Plotting of areas were started at arrival and the tagging of reusable furniture was completed, then interviews with the visually-impaired were conducted. This was an opportunity to get first-hand information on how the blind navigate through spaces. After the interviews, Ma'am Jean oriented the whole class on Basic Mobility.
She demonstrated how the visually-impaired are led through open spaces, narrow passageways, to their seats, and around their dinner plate.
TRUCKLOAD OF PAINT
Description: Last October 4, 2011, two groups got the paints sponsored by Boysen! :) The remaining two groups were able to get theirs this morning. It's getting more and more exciting!!
BTS BAKESALE!
Description: Remember our bakesale? It took us one whole night to provide the goodies to the Math Building Cafeteria! :> It's been so much fun to bake as fundraising for our project!
DESIGN PRESENTATION
Description: Last September 6, 2011, the ID 179 UP BSID 2012 students of TANGLAW had a design presentation during one of the meetings of the special projects class. Design proposals for each of the areas - Women's dormitory, Classroom, Mess Hall, and Massage and Training, were presented one by one. This provided an avenue for communication among the entities of the project. The coherence and pacification of the design concept and objectives were further established as well. The audience was allowed to comment and make suggestions for improvement on design, aesthetics, and cost-effectivity.

We'll be having another INTERIOR DESIGN YARD SALE! This time, somewhere closer to the heart. See you in UP Village Covered Court tomorrow at 9am to 5pm!
09.16.2011 This week, the ID 179 Class UP BSID 2012 had two visits to the site. Each group had already began plotting the layout of the proposed plans on the actual site using markers, chalk, and masking tape. They were also able to tag old and broken furniture pieces that will be intended for refurbishment and repair.
A few minutes before leaving the site, an orientation on mobility was given by Ma'am Jean. The short lecture gave the students a wider perspective on how the sight-impaired navigate through the spaces. It was a very enlightening affair! To view more photos, click on the link below! PLOT. Last August 19, 2011, the ID 179 Class UP BSID 2012 held a yard sale at Damar Village, selling assortments of items such as clothes, books, household souvenirs, vintage glasses, and the like. It was a successful endeavor as a fundraising activity for the class's advocacy in creating "spaces through the senses".
Throughout the day, the class members showed their enthusiasm and eagerness in putting the goods on sale, chatting with the customers and convincing them to buy from the yard sale. It was gratifying and exciting to witness customers looking through the items on sale.
Overall, it was a fun and tiring day for everyone. Exhaustion and bouts of effort went into this project, once again showcasing how teamwork could truly make an event a success. :)
